A one-of-a-kind handmade codex made with authentic Amate paper, created as both an artist book and a space for writing, drawing, collage, and visual exploration.
En las Eternidades explores the codex as a living form. Rather than opening like a conventional bound notebook, its open-envelope structure unfolds across a continuous surface, allowing the pages to move outward and encouraging a different relationship with the act of making.
The book is constructed with authentic Amate paper from Mexico, a richly textured bark paper whose visible fibers, irregular edges, and natural variations make each sheet distinct. The material becomes part of the artwork itself.
Each fold, fiber, and variation remains visible. Nothing is intended to make the handmade material look uniform. The irregularities are part of the character of the book and a record of the hand that made it.

ABOUT AMATE PAPER
Amate is a traditional Mexican bark paper made from the inner bark of trees including wild fig and other local species. The paper has a distinctive fibrous surface and a long history within Mexican visual and material culture.
Calle Soledad Presa works with Amate as a living material, allowing its texture and irregularities to remain visible rather than treating the paper as a neutral surface.

Every En las Eternidades codex is individually assembled. Because authentic handmade Amate paper varies from sheet to sheet, no two books will have exactly the same fibers, edges, texture, or appearance.
These variations are part of the work.
This is not a mass-produced notebook. It is a handmade artist book created to be used, collected, touched, and returned to over time.
