A Set of Two Handmade Amate Paper Codex Artist Books
REFLECTIONS is a pair of handmade codex artist books created from pink Amate paper, combining tactile materials, cut-paper forms, and the intimate experience of writing and drawing by hand.
The two books are designed as companions. Each one holds the physical character of handmade paper while offering a space for writing, sketching, poetry, collage, collecting, and reflection.
The cut-paper forms across the covers become visual fragments that suggest movement, transformation, and the shifting ways we see ourselves and the world around us.
Rather than treating the notebook as a purely functional object, REFLECTIONS approaches the book as a small work of art: something to use, touch, alter, fill, collect, or simply keep.

ABOUT AMATE PAPER
Amate is a handmade bark paper with deep roots in Mexico. Its fibrous surface, irregular texture, and visible traces of the making process distinguish it from commercially manufactured paper.
In REFLECTIONS, the paper is not simply a surface for the artwork. The paper itself becomes part of the work.
Its texture, fibers, edges, and variations remain visible, giving each book a tactile quality that changes from one piece to another.

Because handmade Amate paper naturally varies in texture, fiber, color, and surface, no two books will be perfectly identical. These variations are not imperfections. They are evidence of the material and the hand.
