This work considers the cactus as more than an image. It is food, shelter, medicine, memory, landscape, and witness. The nopal carries its own contradictions: thorn and tenderness, endurance and abundance, protection and offering.

Los Nopales y Las Tunas is an exploration of these relationships through handmade bookmaking, image, material, and poetic gesture.
